The song
was written by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte and was
the sixth
single to be released by the hit writing pair. It was
the follow up to "Good Grief
Christina" and was all set to be a sure-fire hit, but
despite being Power Play on
Radio Luxembourg and getting unprecedented airplay on
that station, here in
Britain the BBC banned it because of its title, and in
particular to cigarettes.
Although
this was one of the strongest Chicory Tip songs ever it
didn't get any
exposure in the UK and as a direct result the song lost
out on much needed
promotion and sales suffered. The moog synthesizer,
brilliant drumming and
ridiculously catchy chorus combined to make this record
one of their best, but
there is no doubt that the ban had a devastating effect
and the direct result of
it was a turning point in the band's career. There was
no way back to the charts.

LYRICS
Every human being has a weakness of kinds or he ain't no
human at all
Every man or woman has some habits you just cannot stall
Lots of people gamble and a lot of people swear and a
lot of others live for TV
But when it comes to habits I'm the man who will always
succeed
Chorus
Cigarettes, Women And Wine are the only three vices
of mine
And each one is a must that I just can't give up, oh
Cigarettes, Women and Wine
Cigarettes, Women And Wine are the only three habits of
mine
With a girl and some wine and a smoke I feel fine, oh
Cigarettes, Women and Wine
Father said be careful and my mother said beware,
there's lots of things you don't really need
So stay away from habits that could bring you down to
your knees
Put me on an island in the middle of an ocean with only
three wishes to choose
I can count them in a second cos there's only three
things I can use
Repeat
Chorus to fade
