This single, released on 22nd September 1972 was the first flop after two successes
with "Son Of My Father" and "What's Your Name" and was written by the same team
who wrote those two hits, Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte.  The moog synthesizer
was confined to the back of the mix on this occasion and while the chorus was catchy
it showed definite leanings away from the Glam pop sound that had been created for
them and in a more progressive rock direction. It was even more evident on the B side
of this single, "Big Wheels Rolling," which was written by the band.

The change in style caused a rift in the band and Rick Foster decided it was time for
him to leave. The other three - Peter Hewson, Barry Mayger and Brian Shearer - were
responsible for driving the band in this new direction, although ironically, when this song
failed to make the chart, the band returned to the moog and pop style with "Good Grief
Christina" which gave them their third hit in four releases.

You say that I'm a hook that's just playing a line, it's a lie it's a lie it's a lie
To love me won't be easy but the price could be high, it's not right to be high all the time
Believe me when I say what you mean to me, I want you to take my pree
I never stand while you walk away, you're my woman my life and my place

I told you I make love more than anything else, it sews us together I plea
I need you more than I have ever needed myself but that's the way it's supposed to be
All you do is say you don't believe a word, well I'll tell you I love being hurt
You tell me how I treat all the other girls just like dirt cos I need to be hurt

The future is past, don't go away
Life will be cursed, who told you to stay
The future is past, don't go away
Life will be cursed, he told you to stay

Repeat Verse 2

Chorus repeat to fade
