was written by John Sebastian and was featured on the
debut Chicory Tip
album, "Son Of My Father." Not for the first time Peter
Hewson's adaptation of the
lyrics of the song differ from the original. We are
producing John's original lyrics here.
John was a member of the Lovin' Spoonful who had hits
"Summer In The City" and "Do You Believe In Magic."
leaving Lovin' Spoonful John played harmonica for
Crosby, Stills & Nash and
The Doors. He carved out a solo career and his third
single was "What She Thinks
About" which was released on the Reprise label in 1970
Tip's version is very sympathetic to the original by
John with the
exception of the moog being on the band's version, and
the change in lyrics.
You can hear John's original version
TO THE SONG
All the things that man devises to help him do his thing
Amazing moon-shot rockets and little wheels that sing
The way his hands will sweat to get that daily bread
It's hard to believe he can't get it through his head
But he still can't figure out just what she thinks about
And he still can't figure out just what she thinks about
All the themes of man's illusions already here and gone
Somehow amidst confusion oh how he gets it on, yeah!
say you've been around and you got it all together
And you're digging where it's at and you really feel
Well, that's not quite true, but nice to meet you
spent time tryin' to figure out a reason
Why you couldn't get along but now the pain's easin'
It's alright, there is nothing frightening, just be mine
Dream on, my man, you'll understand, what to do, what
Her world turns another way
But you still can't figure out just what she thinks
And you still can't figure out just what she thinks
